Fashion tips for stylin 30 somethings
January 26th, 2007I'm back and with my checklist! Sorry, it took a while we have been very busy, with 'Santos wish' my jewellery label which is now stocked in all Lisa Ho stores, nationally! Check it out or log on to www.santoswish.com. After apologising profusely to our lovely Bronny, she has let me keep my blog! My last blog talked about the most feared fashion faux paus of all, "Mutton dressed as lamb" 'shudder.' I made the admission that heading well into my thirties, I must at acknowledge, that some pieces in my wardrobe, will never "sniff, sniff" look as they did on moi at 17. Even, though apparently blessed (or so I’m told by best friends and oh 'good ol Mum.' I can still get away with a considerably short mini, but now something feels NQR about that and donning ripped denim shorts on the street, think I'll save it for the beach… perhaps it’s my internal body clock talking louder? Well, now I’m listening rather than operating on the theory that "I can still get away with it" and want to share with all those gorgeous gals in their 30’s.
Fashion tips for 30 somethings
Rule no.1 No garish brights, unless you're skin tone is so Olive, it would make Helena Christensen green. I’m referring to candy pinks/aqua’s/canary yellows/ however, I’m not saying to 'no' to these colors in accessories – you just don’t want them againts your face or worse at rear.
Rule no.2 Keep dresses and skirts, at least lower thigh length, this is not about how 'great a shape' you’re in – admittedly, my legs still carry it off, as do Pammies but its the whole picture you need to think about.
Rule no.3 Choose quality fabrics, Italian yarns, pure wools, high thread count cotton, against your face it makes all the difference – the same goes for men with regards to suits – you can spot it a mile away…..it's all about a fabrics drape, texture, finish.
Rule no.4 Lining, lining lining! It’s a must, unless the fabric is so amazing, it holds itself and please nothing transparent, simply check yourself in front of mirror with sunlight.
Rule no. 5 Wear dark denim, rather than the faded 'ice-wash' variety. Leave that to Pammy! "Would someone tell her its 2007!"
Rule no. 6 Ditch, ripped up tees and anything showing a midriff and forget mesh layered tops (think Madonna holiday film clip)
Rule no. 7 Stock up on classic pieces and buy at least 10 white tees and/or bonds singlets they go with everything and look so fresh.
Feel free to add to my checklist, til next blog, keep it simple, stylish and not too short x
