Accesories for a black dress

Dear Bronny,

I have a sleeveless, double v neck black dress, knee length with slits up the sides.  I am wearing it to my cousin's wedding next week. I'm 40, with medium length auburn hair in a graduated bob.  I wanted to know how to accessorize my outfit.  It's a classic black dress...and pearls come to mind, but I thought I'd play with it a little. Should I wear expressive earrings, a bracelet and no necklace. A long necklace with small earrings or a bite the grandma bullet and go with pearl necklace and bracelet?  I don't have shoes yet, but love the idea of a patent leather. I do have trouble with peeptoe shoes for some reason (they seem to be cut lower around the foot). What do you think?
