Hi Bronny,

Okay so I'm homeschooled and although my homeschool group does dances all the time. This is the first one that I am going to attend and I practically had to beg my mother to let me go.It is a masked ball and we are supposed to wear evening attire and a dress.

The problem is a while before we decided to go a friend of the family bought me a dress and don't get me wrong its beautiful but its not really my style. The little straps inside that are used for hanging it say Alfred on them so I have a feeling this is short for Alfred Angelo. The dress is light yellow in color. It has an empire silhouette, a halter neckline, and a sweep train. It has sort of kind of sparkley little flower embellishments on it.

I unfortunately don't have a picture of the dress because I can't find my digital camera. I do have some pictures of me and a pic of the mask I want to where with the dress and the venue where the dance will be held so you can understand my situation somewhat better.

So here's my problem.

The dress is great but its not really my style. I'm more into a sort of contemporary style and I where ALOT of black. I do however love the mask and its design but I dont intend to buy it until I get a second opinion because I'd rather not waste 30 dollars on something I'm not going to wear. 

My main thing is what can I wear with dress accessory wise. That will make it seem a little more my style because the only alteration my mom will let me perform is hemming and taking it in at the sides.

I'm really confused so any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Bronny,

My daughter's prom gown is a print. It has lime green, tangerine, orange/copper, cream, spots of brown (cheetah). The bodice, shoulders and back are covered with colorful beads.

If the dress was't difficult enough...the date doesn't care for the colors in the dress. He is wearing a black tux with a sapphire blue vest and tie. Did I mention there is about 10 very small spots of a baby blue in the dress? No, because you can  hardly see them.

How do we tie this ensamble together? She is wearing her hair in a partial updo. She'll be wearing gold earrings and a gold bracelet?

I bought this dress in a deep grey by Velvet and can't figure what in the world to wear over it. I live in the SF area where it's frequently windy and COLD. Shrugs are not warm enough, but a coat looks bulky -- and my jewel-neck cardigans just don't look right with it, either.
