Star Styling: Rachel Zoë

Rachel Zoë: mention this name in Hollywood and you’re sure to get an "ooh-aah" reaction.

Who is she, you may easily ask, as for 10 years she has been working behind the scenes as a fashion stylist to the stars.  More recently the number one stylist to Hollywood's elite, who is appearing more and more in front of the camera.

She grew up Rachel Zoë Rozenweig (she later dropped Rozenweig) in Short Hills, New Jersey, population: 12,849.  She went on to study sociology and psychology and after graduating without any formal fashion training (although she says her studies have helped in situations) she headed to the big apple, NYC to work as a stylist on YM magazine where she worked for 4 years.

After leaving YM Rachel did freelance work and styled a number of celebs, mostly muso's including Brittany Spears and the Backstreet Boys.  

She says she is "the most fashion obsessed person in the world" with Lyndsay Lohan a close second; well they would definitely have to fight AskBronny for that title! Rachel has gone on to style most of young Hollywood including Mischa Barton, Kate Hudson, Selma Hayek, Brittany Murphy and her "Little sisters" Lyndsay Lohan and Nicole Richie.

Rachel Zoë’s personal style is Studio54 esque!  Glam rock meets boho chic, super skinnies and oversized accessories by day, 1970's Halston or YSL Grecian style dresses by night complimented by super high heels all the time (she doesn't do flats).

She has admitted to an obsession with accessories, especially vintage and often buys clothes based around this.  She is a vintage collector and loves to dress her celeb clients as such, noting sometimes it’s the only way to maintain individuality.

Her fave vintage haunts include Decades, The Way We Wore.  The lucky thing also gets to visits couture archives of major fashion houses (phew busy lady!) something we at AskBronny certainly envy!  Rachel Zoë has definitely taken young Hollywood by storm and revived its style (for the best – somebody had to do something, think Nicole Ritchie early Simple Life episodes).

Some must have items she recommends are:
- really good coat, fur is nice but not necessary
- great pair of boots (she has over 80 herself!)
- stunning pair of glasses
- great bag, she is said to have over 450 including every one that Tom Ford designed, a Hermes Birkin, couple of Chloe and lots of Chanel and Louis Vuitton.

Her personal designer faves include: jeans by Rock and Republic and, shoes by Alexander McQueen and Loubouton.  She loves clothing by Lanvin, Rocha’s, YSL and Halston. Her first love will always be vintage.

Her pet hates (which we all have!):
- not layering things properly
- too many prints
- too much skin  

We at AskBronny have a soft spot for Rachel Zoë: we love her style, vision and appreciate her love of vintage clothing.  Not only is she dressing more stars for the red carpet than ever, she is now walking it herself, dressed to the 10's of course!!
