 For the last time this year, AskBronny takes a look inside our writer's wardrobe. This week it's Tara sharing her love of vintage and her very sexy booty 'Tarza' shorts!
When I was asked to write an article about my fave things in my wardrobe I have to admit I panicked, how do I cram all my fave things into an article I think it might be easier if I wrote a novel? So instead of spending a couple of years writing a novel about my fave items of clothing I decided to spend a coupe of days going through my wardrobe to narrow things down.
So here goes. 1. I love NY T-Shirt
I'm staring with my I Love NY t-shirt; this is really special to me. I went to New York in 2005 and fell in love with it straight away; I brought it from a little old man in central park for $5. I think it’s meant to be a kid's tee, I managed to squeeze myself in an XL. Even though we stayed at the dodgiest hostel, had no money and only ate soup, and it still managed to suck us in. I wear the t-shirt all the time, it's even starting to get a little hole on the shoulder. It brings back great memories looks fab and I really do love NY.
2. Sass & Bide Skinny's
Next mention is my sass & Bide skinny's addiction; I have 3 pairs, a black pair and 2 blue denim pairs (exactly the same). I feel really sorry for all these jeans - I've worn them so much they must be exhausted! I wear them with cami's, t-shirts, dresses on top, thongs or heels. They really suit my body shape and I could never give them up!
3. Loewe Heels
After more shuffling through my wardrobe I come up with another fave, My LOEWE heels, they were my first pair of designer heels and I literately walked along the side of a freeway (boy in tow), in torrential rain to get them! They are completely comfy, well comfy for 5 inch heels anyway. Black with a buckle, weave straps and my fave part studs up the heel (they make me feel like a rock star!) They make my feet look more attractive than they actually are bonus! And for the best part, they were originally $380US reduced to $50US. That explains the walk in the torrential rain ECT, how could they not be a fave!
4. Chinese Lantern Bag
Now let me think… I'm looking at the items strewn across my bed, oh yes my fave going out bag, it's a red triangle shape, Chinese lantern looking bag. I love love it, I bag-napped it from my mum's wardrobe couple of years ago and have been holding it hostage ever since! It has a little noose strap/handle that is great to slip on the wrist when dancing the night away and it hold just enough, which for me includes my lip-gloss, phone, coin purse, boyfriends keys and at maximum capacity digital camera! I think in its past life it was a make-up bag, the ones you get free when you purchase a certain amount of products, my boy was the one who named it the Chinese lantern bag and then another mate of mine said it looked like a Chinese take away box but admitted he like it! Well even if it does look like all the above I still adore it!
5. Yellow Butterfly Smock Top
Something else I love that my boy doesn't is my yellow butterfly smock top, I got a voucher for my 21st for my fave store and as soon as I walked in this top caught my eye, I have a thing for butterflies and the yellow is amazing, it's a fresh daisy color. It reminds me of something Carrie would wear in Sex and the City I wear it with a black bra to fully achieve that look. Ever since buying it I have been drawn to brighter colors. That includes the color of my shoes too, which leads me onto my next fave's my comfy flip flops!
6. Haviana's / Flip Flops
I love haviana's and Birkenstocks and have a few pairs of each including a green pair of haviana's and an orange pair of Birkenstocks. Summer is my fave time of year, and I love bouncing around in a pretty dress with my flip flops. They're great to wear when you're shopping so you don't suffer from any soreness! I wore them nearly everyday overseas in LA in the great weather.
7. Tarza's Booty Shorts
I also purchased a pair of great summer shorts in the city of summer, from this great little shop that had plain clothing that you could print a design of you choice on while you wait. I picked the little athletic like red and white short shorts, when I was asked what I wanted printed on them I had a total blank, so eventually with a little inspiration from Beyonce, I decided to use white writing and print “Tarza's Booty” on the rear end. Every time I wear them they make me laugh and for some reason I get a lot of attention aimed at, where else, my booty. They are part of my summer survival wardrobe, for the beach, washing the dog or attempting housework.
8. Black Marc Jacobs Dress
Next we enter the world of E-bay where I purchased my black Marc Jacobs dress for half the price I would pay retail, plus I think Nicole Ritchie spotted me out and about in it and decided she wanted one in white, or is it the other way around? I was bidding for this when traveling around Austria and was very excited when I got home to Melbourne to find it waiting for me and even more excited when I tried it on and it fit!
9. Scanlan & Theodore Dress
Everyone should own a black dress of some sort, whether it be little or not. You can work them for any occasion, they are very versatile, I have another fave black dress, and even though it doesn't fit I still love it. It’s a 1980's satin Madonna esque Scanlan & Theodore dress, I'd hate to admit it but I have a slight fascination with the 80's except for the power suits and shoulder pads. I picked up this little number from my local second hand store, it's like finding treasure after rummaging through the racks and then spotting something as special as this, I think that's why I love it so much, and for $20 AUD what's not to love about that, except the fact it doesn’t fit of course!
10. Samantha Wills Antique Circle Silhouette Earings
To finish off my fave things, I have to mention my fave earings! They are Samantha Wills antique circle silhoutte earings. They are huge and can only be worn for a short time before getting too heavy but they can complete any outfit and take it from drab to fab in seconds! They are stunning!
So there's a few of my fave things in a nutshell, it could certanly replace Miss Julie Andrews version of 'These are a few of my favorite things', replacing the 'kittens in mittens' with me in my havianas and short shorts! |
