Whats in fashion this season? I really don't know what to wear this season! Is there anything in fashion this season? What do celeb's wear?
Well it really depends on what part of the globe you are living at the moment as to what is in season. Is it hot where you are (like me, blowing hot wind everywhere, bushfires and it's nearly Christmas!) or is it cold, snowy, windy with a chill that goes right to your bone.
Here are my hot tips for what's in season in both the hot and cold parts of the world right now.
Lets heat it up with our first stop being the Southern Hemisphere which is hot, hot, hot as it heads into Summertime.
1. Southern Hemisphere, Australia, Asia, New Zealand, South Africa
Right now the girls are loving their Havaiana's flip flops and shorts teamed with cute pinafore / peasant tops! The pinafore has also extended to the the dress and looks so cute at the moment also teamed with your Havaiana's which come in a range of gorgeous colors. Heading to the beach? Cutouts swimsuits are also fashionable - yes those cutout suits from the 80s that looked great on 13 year old girls or stick thin models, they are definately cute but not so great for the fuller figured gal. The low cut bikini (think of the sixties and Marilyn Monroe) has also made a comeback which is great news for those buxom babes out there. Feeling not so hot on the beach in your bikini, then grab a Kaftan, these have made a comeback in both long and short versions and look great over the top of a bikini / swimsuit, with a belt tied at the waist or simply flowing (think Mischa Barton through the US Summer). Bikini's also look great teamed with cute puffy or frilly ALine skirts for when you need to race to the milkbar for another cool drink. Another style back in fashion is the bubble dress, but not the full bubble as in elasticated bottom, designers have adapted this dress to be cut so that is appears to billow at the top and then taper at the bottom - v.cute with deep pockets. Also vintage dresses are still very hot to trot – think of styles popular in the seventies and you'll have a good idea. Finally, stepping out at night? Think of Carrie from SATC! High heels, tailored shorts and sequins on top for a glamorous look or ditch the heels and wear your flatties which also look hot at the moment. Boots over jeans are still a great look – however this is where you can team your shorty Kaftan with a belt for a more stylish look. When thinking of patterns, spots, stripes and jungle prints are all still very popular at the moment with bright colors definately still in. Green and red are definitely a must for this season. Here's a little list to help with these styles:
- The pinafore
- Long Boots
- Strappy High Heels
- Green & Red
- Bright Colors
- Kaftan's, long and short
- The cutout bikini
- The vintage bikini (think 50s & 60s)
- Bubble dresses
- Rara skirts
- ALine / Frilly skirts
And so to the other side of the globe where things are the exact opposite – cold, blustery and definitely feeling a lot like Christmas.
2. Northern Hemisphere, America, the United Kingdom, Europe
The gals where it's cold are rugging up in their fake fur, skinny jeans, tweed coats and long boots! The hot tips for looks on the other side of the globe include fake fur, the dress shirt (as in buttons all the way down the front), tailored shorts, opaque stockings, the color white, your faithful skinnies and boots for another season. Yes fur has made a comeback, but at AskBronny we would never advocate wearing real fur, opt for the fake fur instead (and if you need any prompting for why you shouldn't wear fur then head to the www.peta.com website for the harsh reality). The Pinafore is still in fashion and looks great with long sleeved tee's underneath your pinafore top, or teamed with a cardigan and long boots for your pinafore dress. Also, dresses with pockets are extremely fashionable this season. Pull those tailored shorts out that you wore all summer and team those with your opaques underneath and boots over the top, grab your hip skimming military jacket that you've had in the cupboard for a couple of years now and you're ready to go. The tweed coat is also back in style, figure hugging and oh so stylish this jacket is going to top off any outfit when you walk out the door. White is definitely in style as well, go for white in your accessories or a tailored crisp, white shirt which always looks fantastic and never goes out of style. My hot tip for your white shirt is to team it with a pair of dark denims and flat or heeled shoes - this style always looks gorgeous and will never date. Some items that have remained from last season include flat shoes (yes, those ballet slippers we all loved last season are still in), the wedge high heel, the jumpsuit (following on from summer), the big bag and cropped jackets. Here's a great look for you, pull on a sixties mini dress, team it with opaques and long boots for a fabulous mod London look! Here's your little list of must have items to keep you warm as it gets cold:
- fake fur
- the dress shirt
- tailored shorts
- opaque stockings
- Skinny jeans
- Wedge heels
- The Pinafore
- The playsuit
- Flat shoes (ballet slippers etc)
- The Mini dress
- Hooded cardigans / jackets
- Military jackets
- Cropped jackets
You'll find most of the celebs getting around in this kind of gear across the globe. Celebs at the moment can also be seen getting around with their massive totes, glasses and cute fedora hats! My tip for a groovy hat is the Derby aka as the flat cap – very cute and bound to make a comeback. And don't forget the essential Winter accessory for any girl is a gorgeous long woollen scarff which always looks fabulous.
That's it for the hot and cold wardrobe! Good luck with your choices and remember if you have any further doubts you can always ask me.
