Straight Leg Jeans
Written by Bronny
Dear Bronny,

I'm on the hunt for a great pair of jeans, however I'm finding it hard to come across a pair of straight legs that arn't those stove pipe variety. I have large calves so I find those stove pipe or even skinny legs hug my whole leg WAY too much and makes me look very curvy.

Do you know of brand that focuses on straight leg jeans instead of skinny legs?

ANSWER

Dear Esther,

Good question. Let's specify the exact difference between and skinny and a straight leg first up.

Skinny: hugs the leg, all the way down to your ankle, usually made in a stretch fabric so as to cling
Straight Leg: Made with one straight measurement up and down, usually has more room in the calve and ankle area.

Now, onto where to get good straight leg jeans.

Some great brands that have straight legs include:

-    Joe Jeans
-    Gap
-    Seven
-    Levi’s
-    Mooks
-    Diesel
-    Mavi
-    True Religion
-    Hudson

True Religion and Hudson are particularly good for curvy girls with the blend including lycra. Also, mens Levi's can be another great option for curvy girls, so definitely try some of those as well.

Armed with these brands, you should be able to find something that suits! Also, don’t underestimate a trip into your local JeansWest, JustJeans or the market! You can pick up some great styles at these places too.

All in all the search for the perfect jean is usually a day of shopping, and don't forget the pop in! I’ve found some of my most favorite items from just popping into a shop and quickly trying something on – which is how I found my Third Millenium white straight legs.
