Knits

Dear Bronny

I am a big fan of knitwear, and was wondering what your thoughts are on dressing it up for a semi-formal occasion this winter? Your thoughts would be most appreciated

ANSWER

Dear Stacey K

Knitwear is back in the colder parts of the world, that’s for sure! How fun to dress it up for a semi-formal occasion.

I always remember the Chanel black knit sweater I was given as a gift, simply stunning with a cut out piece at the back – yum yum!

Some idea’s are as follows:
  • the knit dress, very 80s, but can look absolutely stunning, how about cinching in at the waist with a belt and then matching your shoes
  • you’ve already got the dress but would like to add a touch of wool, how about a woollen wrap to go over the top – rather than a jacket, this could look gorgeous with a Scottish inspired brooch to hold in place at your shoulder
  • Mohair can be a stylish option in a knit with perhaps long black trousers and the knit on top. Again dress this look up with your accessories, a stunning brooch (vintage) would again work well in this situation.
  • Here’s a stunning knit dress from style.com – see what you think, I’d advise wearing a slip under this particular dress however!
  • Shrugs can look fabulous as a knit and would work well with a semi-formal dress
  • Here’s another  great look from Style.com, this time in a strapless knit with matching skirt – super cool
Knits can look gorgeous and will keep you warm, we think that’s enough reason to wear them this Winter! Stay warm!
