Dear Bronny, I really like the new ultra high waisted pants with the buttons up the front. What sort of body shape do you need to wear these?I'm kinda long torso with no real hourglass, 40/28/36, 5'7" will they look ok, can I wear them with a tucked in tshirt or do they require a blouse, do you have to wear heels with then, will they make my legs look stumpy? With shoes, should I wear tap mary jane style with them, or is that too retro-unironic? Do they fold and crinkle when you sit down in them, thereby rendering your tummy a mass of attention grabbing wrinkles? Do I need to stand in odd poses to look good when wearing them? got any tips for making your (my!) arse look bigger? Love CatGirl ANSWER Dear CatGirl, Well you are a very tidy little package! I can tell by your measurements, you are a real hourglass but with great boobs by the sounds of things. So your answer is in relation to highwaisted pants which are so in fashion right now. With any trend it’s all about how you balance the look. When you say you like the really high waisted pants with buttons up the front – do you mean the corset style trouser? If you do, I wouldn’t suggest this look for anyone who isn’t over 5’10, I'm not so sure this look will be around in a years time. That said, you can still wear a high waisted trouser. You simply need to balance the look with the rest of your outfit. So if you go for a high waist that sits just below the belly button, you can definitely tuck a shirt into this, then accentuate your waist with a belt or scarf. The idea her is to accentuate that tiny 28cm waist of yours. I would also recommend wearing heels to give your legs even more length, tucking jeans into boots can also look very cool giving you a 70s glamour look. If you chose to wear the mary-jane style shoe with the trouser as you mention, then it would indeed be a very retro look. However I think you could pull it off, it would be about the type of top that you chose to go with. I would also recommend going heavy on the chunky geometrical accessories for this kind of retro look. You could even consider a top with a pattern, also i'd recommend something figure hugging. You also wonder about making your bum look bigger. The general rule is pockets with detailing on the bottom enhance size. Think of Jennifer Lopez. Hudson, True Religion, Nudi and Mavi are all great at making jeans with detailing on the pocket. Even better are pockets on the bottom with a button. And of course anything with a pattern will make anything look bigger! Go Girl! Love Bronny |
