Daddy Long Legs

Written by Jane Stabler
LongestLegsThe temperature is soaring in the southern hemisphere, as are hemlines. So it seems confidence needs to do the same in order to carry off this season's trend. Love it or hate it, short skirts are back and this summer it's all about legs.

Short everything has been hitting the catwalks in recent weeks, overseas and here in Oz. Even the reigning king of Australian glamour, Alex Perry, sent models trotting out in barely there skirts, so we know this is serious! With micro dresses doing the exact opposite to the maxi-dress, you can’t hide anything with clothing this short, sometimes not even your underwear. Whilst some of the hemlines seen on the catwalk are so short they do actually reveal knickers, others such as Zimmerman’s range of short dresses show that you can still look classy and show off your pins at the same time.

Regardless of how much you dare to bare, tiny skirts dresses and shorts making it all about legs this summer. Here at AskBronny we’re willing to go along with most of the trends, so for those of you wanting to play along, here are some sure fire ways to feel confident in your shortest of attire!

First up, fake tan baby! A great tan evens out your skin tone and hides those lumps and bumps that most of us mere mortals have. A good spray on tan covers all of you, so no matter how short your skirt, you won’t have that embarrassing white strip at the top of your thighs giving away the usual length of your attire!

Secondly, invest in good shoes. Anything short teemed with towering stilettos makes your legs look even longer. High heels also tighten up your calf and butt muscles through the naturally resulting tension, so your legs will look more toned at the same time. If even Kylie can look like she has legs a mile long through her use of shoes, so can the rest of us. Big shoes do make what it is you’re wearing look even shorter, but when tiny is the name of the game, that can only be a good thing.

And finally, consider your options. Short shorts are often less daunting to don than a micro skirt or a teeny dress. If you feel more comfortable strutting in a pair of little shorts, or a tiny romper suit, opt for that. Short skirts and dresses are often more risky, and if showing your legs at all is a big deal, you don’t want to be terrified that everyone is seeing your lingerie too.

If its just all too much and you can’t bear the thought of showing off that much leg, rest easy in the fact that the maxi-dress is still cool, and will still be a big feature of summer wear. But on the other hand, if you’ve got it, flaunt it. After all, they say that life is short, so we think your skirt should be too!
