Pleated Trousers Vs Flat Front

Dear Bronny,

I'm a big and tall guy with a beer belly.  I'm looking to buy some dress slacks and was wondering if I should buy the pleated or flat front?  My wife thinks the pleats just make me look bigger.

Hi Jon,

I agree with your wife. The pleated kind will actually draw attention to your belly pulling at the waist and not accentuating the long leg which is what you want to do in your situation being tall. A flat front is going to look more stylish and not draw attention to your belly, it will also highlight the length in your legs taking away attention from your belly. Stick with your wife’s advice – I think she’s spot on.
