Organising Your Wardrobe

Hi Charlie,

Well this is the dilemma of everybody who has too many clothes.

The trick here is firstly to cull. Go through and make three piles:

1. timeless classics
2. things I wear all the time
3. things I hardly ever wear or never wear anymore

Anything in pile number 3 you should sell on eBay or give to charity. The remaining 2 piles can be organised by style. Jackets, pants etc. Do the same thing with your shoes.

It can be hard to throw sentimental items away, my suggestion if you have quite a few of these is to purchase some plastic storage containers. Put the clothes you just can't throw away but don't wear into these and put them away for safe keeping.

I love my storage containers - just the other day I pulled one out and found several 80s vintage pieces that have no gone back into my wardrobe.

The general rule of thumb is this 'bring one item home, throw another item away'.
