Dear Bronny, My daughter is getting married in an 11:00 am wedding at a Military Officers Club it is not a military wedding (her father was military). What type of dress would be appropriate for me to wear? I am 49 years old. Most of the mother of the bride dresses I have seen look like something my mother will be wearing. From Sue ANSWER Hi Sue, Congratulations on your daughters wedding! What an exciting time and of course you want to look your best for your daughter's wedding. I think that going for something stylish, yet understated is the way to go here. It would be helpful to know your height and measurements, however here are a few selections to give you an idea of what is appropriate. Option 1 Option 2 Option 3 Option 4 Option 5 Option 6 Option 7 Option 8 As you can see from all the dresses they have a few things in common. 1. They're not too short 2. They're not white 3. They don't look too 'bridesmaidy' 4. They are stylish and timeless If you follow those rules in choosing something then you shouldn't go wrong. I'd look for a cocktail evening dress rather than a 'mother of the bride' dress. Scour the department stores and then go to the smaller shopping strips where you will find boutique stores. If the weather is warm you can wear a jacket with the dress and remove that once inside. A nice pair of heels and understated hairdo and makeup and you will look simply stunning. Love Bronny xxxx |
