Shoes for Mother of the Bride Dress
Written by Bronny
Dear Bronny,

I am the mother of the bride and my dress is a shirt dress style with a sash belt and larger sort of puff collar around the back of dress.  What color shoes should I wear and what style of shoe.  I do have a shorter leg from foot to knee.

Cheers
Donna

ANSWER

Hi Donna,

Thanks so much for your question! Your dress sounds gorgeous.

I'm just wondering what color your dress is and also if you can let me know what you usually do about your shorter leg.

If you can please answer these two questions i'll then send through my complete answer.

RESPONSE

Hi Bronny,

Thank you for responding.....My dress is navy blue shirt dress with a large pleated bottom that flares out with a sash belt at waist.  I tried on dark heel shoes with it  and also a pair of bone color shoes.  Not the style I need...but I was looking at color of shoes...I definitely think the bone color shoes look better...what is your opinion or maybe a light gold or silver.  ???? Also what type of heel do you think would look good with that type of dress.  I really don't like pump shoes with heels because they make my leg look shorter, I think.  I think a more substantial shoe looks better with my leg....short and bigger calf. Maybe a pump platform with an open toe.  How about a green shoe????IK know too many questions...If you look at norstrom web site and the first dress that come up under mother of the bride (I think) that's, my dress.

Thank you again for responding.

Cheers,
Donna

ANSWER NO.2

Hi Donna,

Is this it?

Mother of Bride Dress from Nordstrum

It doesn't look navy in this picture so I thought I'd ask as it could be different when looking at it up close. Either way it's a gorgeous dress. There a couple of shoe options including navy to match the dress, silver to contrast and pewter. You could also wear red or go for a shoe with detail such as rhinestones or beading.

The bone shoes you mention could also work. In terms of style of shoe I think you need to look for a wedge or platform that you can then take to a cobbler and have them adjust the heel to suit your shortened leg. A pump platform could certainly look fabulous you just need to make sure the heeled part of the pump is substantial enough to have a bit added to the bottom. I found a few selections on Zappos that you could consider and to give you an idea of what could work with your dress.

1. Shoes Option 1
2. Shoes Option 2
3. Shoes Option 3
4. Shoes Option 4
5. Shoes Option 5

I hope you have a wonderful time at the wedding and am certain you will look gorgeous! Remember, confidence is half the key to looking fabulous.
