Sportsgirl opened their doors for a preview of their Winter Collection. AskBronny popped along to get the goss on what's to come for 2010.
Bloggers, the media and Sportsgirl staff flocked to the Docklands for an exclusive preview of the 2010 Sportsgirl Winter collection. If you were looking for a better dressed crowd you wouldn’t have been able to find it as it seemed the best dressed were all at Peninsula. I spotted many wearing the hottest trends including shoe boots, floral flip dresses and geometric prints with some amazing accessories matched to perfection – such is the scene when you pull together people who love their fashion. The Contessa (check out her blog and pics from the night!) & I were eager to check out the clothes to see what Sportsgirl felt would be on the fashion agenda for our Winter.
The Tulip skirt made an appearance, a look that has been huge on the continent this past Winter as did the floral flip dress converted for Winter. There were opaques (yay) and the shoe boot with a divine grey wedge pair screaming at me to ‘buy buy buy’. I also noted a return of the very 90s lace up hiking boot (you may remember the Caterpillar / CAT variety worn by grunge boys the world over back when Nirvana were big).
Possibly my favorite looks of the evening were the leather bombers, one with studded detail and another with hood. I was also coveting the over the thigh boots as well as the velvet sky high platform heels which don’t seem to be leaving in a hurry. Also noted was the feather detailing, very European and Avatar inspired. We likey like this girly look. Zipper leggings and 80s inspired patterned leggings were also hot as was the oh so ‘Heathers’ lumberjacket and smocks. Military also made a splash with khaki army inspired jackets and could it be - has to be - inspired Balmaine'esque we'll call it jacket. Sportsgirl outdid themselves with their knits and in particular cardigans, a blue and white striped French inspired mini dress in particular was simply gorgeous as was the red hat matched with. There was also the Kate Moss inspired grey jean and fake fur (so much better than the real thing). All in all the collection veered from girly to edgy and maintained the youthful appeal so important to the Sportsgirl brand. Winter certainly promises to be hotter than Summer and I for one can’t wait to rush to the shops with my hard earned cash in hand.
