Ever wondered what's inside other people's wardrobes? Or maybe as a kid it was mums closet! From designer frocks to shabby vintage, Kristen Eckhardt discusses a few of her favourite things. Let's peek inside!
1. Scanlon & Theodore Dress Having cost the equivalent of a month’s rent, this frock is my one real extravagance. As it’s already been worn to about four weddings this year, it has paid itself off a million times over. Classic Scanlan. Floaty, impossibly delicate and timeless. 2. Corolla T-Shirt The transfer on this t-shirt once said “Corolla”. Now it just looks like a glittery blob. Despite this, I love this t-shirt. I can wear it with jeans and sneakers for lounging around at home, or I can team it with some heels and a jacket for a bit of rock star chic. A very versatile vintage find for under $20.
3. Vintage Frock Another vintage favourite, this frock looks fabulous when worn with a brown belt and knee high boots. It’s patterned with little hearts and the detail on the sleeves and collar is very girly and delicate. 4. LBD This little black dress cost me next to nothing – though, it gives me almost as much pleasure as the floaty number from Scanlan. The brushed cotton gives it a slightly shimmery appearance and the puffed sleaves with the white inset detail are just too fabulous to describe. Teamed with an elasticised belt, this is the 1980s at their very best.
5. Vintage Boots Yet more vintage. These boots have a magnificent suede detail that for some reason make me think they once belonged to a blonde country and western singer. Made in France, they are beautifully preserved and seem to be only resoled once.
6. Barbie This Barbie is a replica of one of the first models. Before becoming a California babe, it seems Barbie was a sultry brunette in a fabulous swim suit. This version of Barbie is more like what young girls should aspire to be.
7. Sunnies I brought these sunglasses about three years ago and I still can’t give them up. A little bit sleazy but also a little bit rock ‘n’ roll.
8. Necklace I’m a firm believer in interesting accessories. This necklace is a fairly recent purchase and I like it because it’s unusual and a little kooky. I can wear it with something very simple and it becomes the focus of the outfit.
9. Pink Cons It’s obvious that I’ve had these shoes for years. I simply cannot part with them despite the fact that the sole is nearly worn through. I’ve been loyal to Converse One Stars for as long as I can remember. Classics. |
