![]() We're loving hot new accessory label Cheerytree Road. Whilst their accessories are for guys - girls wear them too. We can't think of anything more beautiful for the manista is your life! Read on for our interview with the brains behind the label - Jared Laoumtzis. 1. Where do you get such inspiration for your edgy designs? I suppose my inspiration has stemmed from having the urge to put something in the marketplace that is truly unique and accessible. That's why in the first three years of establishing my label, Cherrytree Road, i have only made one-of or limited runs of my pieces. More inspiration has come from influences like music, art and the creative people I surround myself with, as I endeavour to create something that no other labels have created before. 2. What made you want to start your own line? I have always been a fan of accessories and I believe they can make or break an outfit! I started out working at a major boutique chain store and every season they used to get mass units of the one piece, and i guess that's what started it all. I was aware of the process that was involved and decided to try and make and difference by offering pieces that were individual and not so common or easy to stumble upon. 3. Did you grow up under fashion influences? Not necessarily, although once I started to get into the industry I worked it out pretty quick! Who people are, what they give to the industry, and of course I continue to be influenced by the people I meet along the way. 4. Your designs have been seen strung on the necks of some pretty high flying celebs, including Brian McFadden and John Mayer. How do you feel seeing that? Yeah, i guess it's great to be recognised for my work - when John Mayer actually purchased pieces from one of my retailers - that was pretty impressive. I was thrilled and happily surprised, yet not too surprised because John Mayer and Brian McFadden have great taste! 5. What kind of man is a cherrytree road guy? A Cherrytree road guy could be found in anyone that has his own individual style and knows what's what to people that have a creative flair; and know style and dress sense when they see it. Guys can wear it with any cool shirt or t-shirt. 6. What kind of woman could wear Cherrytree road? This one is open for interpretation, Cherrytree Road is a Rock inspired label, it can also be dressed up and down, just like clothing. Girls love to dress up so they might go for more intricate pieces, but even the simple pieces look hot with that little black dress, or jeans! 7. What is your male to female customer ratio? Cherrytree road has definitely got more of a guy following at present, and I feel this is because of the high profile men that are wearing it. In saying that i have increasing orders from women who are asking for something similar to what her boyfriends got. 8. Your designs have quickly become air born all the way to the US. How did you achieve such great success in such a small period of time? That comes down to hard work, persistence and determination. And a huge phone bill! lol 9. Is there a hidden message or sentiment behind your designs? I guess the hidden message would be (to the consumer) that he/or she is wearing something that no one else has, and that is such a hard thing to do in this day and age where everything is mass produced and hand fed to the consumer through various media outlets (but i guess that's just the way it is). I like that those that chose to wear Cherrytree Road have stumbled across it in a great store, or a cool blog or a hot magazine, instead of it being the obvious choice. 10. Can you give us a sneak peak into what to expect this year? I have a new Website and Web store on the way, check www.cherrytreeroad.com in 2 weeks time! I am producing - new colours in the Skinny metal ties and Bow ties. - more pieces such as the "blind as a bat" necklace and Mr & Mrs Meyagi Samari pieces - introducing some winter basics such as gloves, hats & scarves; and I am still product developing and manufacturing for some major labels. ![]() Brian McFadyan and Delta Goodrem, Brian in Cherrytree Road ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() John Mayer in Cherrytree Road For more information on Cherrytree Road visit their website. |
