Dear Bronny Dear Confused at Work Corporate attire is actually quite a simple one. Possibly the only problem is the initial outlay in building your base corporate wardrobe, however if you have a job that requires you to work in a corporate environment then you should be covered for the financial outlay to begin. Think classic, nothing over the top or outlandish. You should begin any outfit with the base of a suit. You can mix and match suits, but your trouser, jacket and skirt selections should always be tailored, err on the side of elegence. Add separates to your basic corporate wardrobe whilst purchasing a new suit each year, I would say that any good corporate wardrobe will eventually grow to have 5 classic suits that can be mixed and matched, however you can take your time in building these pieces. If you intend on remaining in the coporate arena, sales will become your best friend in purchasing suits! Add to the suits with crisp shirts in white and other colors whilst further building your wardrobe with separates including well cut trousers and skirts. Shoes are equally important, look after the shoes you buy and make sure they are comfortable for wearing during the day whilst also topping off an outfit and making you look good. Hosiery for skirt wearing in the winter months, fake tan on the legs in Winter if you don’t wish to wear hose because of the heat. Another good option in Summer is skin colored fishnets, they always look good and cover any blemishes on the leg! You can adapt pieces of the current trends to this basic wardrobe, but I would not suggest going overboard. Accessories are always a good way to follow current trends whilst jazzing up an otherwise plain corporate outfit. Corporate dressing can actually be quite fun, once you have invested in a few good pieces, you can mix and match til your heart is content! Love Bronny xxxx |
